Boys have traditionally been rewarded and praised for their competitive spirit. Shouldn't girls also be allowed opportunities to experience the achievements, the teamwork, and the glory?

The Big Apple RG Foundation's competitive program provides opportunities for gymnasts, who demonstrate the ability and desire, to compete at the elite levels of Rhythmic Gymnastics. By joining our team, your daughter will be among the ranks of one of our country's most successful Rhythmic Gymnastics teams.

Founded in 1982, Big Apple is New York's first full-scale Rhythmic Gymnastics club. We are the only RG program in the borough of Queens that offers a USA Gymnastics safety-certified program to girls from beginner to elite competitive levels. Big Apple is the most successful program in the region consistently producing gymnasts that have won titles at state, regional and national competitions, in addition to several US National Team Members who have gone on to represent our country at competitions throughout the world.

In order to earn a coveted spot on our competitive team, a gymnast must be able to perform specific gymnastics skills. Generally, our head coach looks for a certain degree of flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. Gymnasts are placed in one of eight competitive levels (3 through 10) that is appropriate to her age, level of interest and ability.

Joining our competitive team does not obligate your daughter to attend competitions, but years of experience have taught us what a positive impact competitive sports can have on a girl's life. Training for competitive sports requires a commitment. From this commitment of time and effort, a young girl learns how to set goals, take responsibility and prepare for the challenges of life. Her self-discipline will increase because she will learn the value of preparation by seeing steady improvement in her performance. She will learn the fundamental lesson of sacrificing immediate gratification for long-term gain, which is the basis for personal success, and no lesson can be more valuable. Our competitive program is structured on the understanding that a girls motive for participating in competitive sports varies. Girls participate not only for competitive reasons, but to get in shape, socialize, improve skills and have fun. All motives, not just those related to highly competitive activity, are respected and validated.

Girls with previous gymnastics, dance or acrobatics experience are encouraged to tryout for our team
